Why is “misunderstanding Jesus” such a major theme of John? How does this often-repeated idea actually help us grow closer to him?
Where in your life are you prone to misunderstand Jesus or the Bible? How can those in your life help you grow in knowledge and understanding?
If you have been hurt by someone who misunderstood Jesus, how can you safeguard your heart against bitterness and cynicism? What steps is Jesus asking you to take?
Who in your life—both Christians and non-Christians—can you help to understand Jesus? How can Jesus help you be courageous in this endeavor?
Prayer Points
Pray 2 Peter 3:18 for our church, that we would grow both in grace (humility) and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
Pray for those who have been hurt by Jesus’ followers, that Jesus would give you opportunities to minister his grace to them.
