Sunday August 18th, 150 people grilled burgers and hot dogs, shared lunch together, and walked down to the water at Edmonds Marina Beach Park. Led by Pastor Aaron and Pastor Kyle, we prayed and witnessed eight baptisms of men, women, and children in the Puget Sound.
This annual event is perhaps one of the most joyful occasions of the year at Sound City. Celebrating the unity of believers in Jesus’ death, burial, and resurrection, proclaiming their faith through baptism. This year was especially memorable, as we were joined by two men who felt led to come pray and be baptized.
Hannah Colvin shared that seeing two people come and see, and take a step of obedience through baptism was “awe inspiring,” and “I genuinely didn’t expect to see that not once, but twice in one afternoon!”
Michael Ellmer said, “It was an absolute joy to experience this year’s event. It was truly special to be able to watch our church family, as well as their friends and other guests bond in this unique expression of community alongside the beauty of the Puget Sound. Getting to witness the public display of faith from a range of age groups was such a unique and emotional experience. In accordance with that, the Lord’s mysterious and often unexpected work was in full force as two men without any connection to the church were led by the Spirit to join us and be baptized. In my short time as a believer, I have heard of such sporadic things before but never imagined witnessing it as it happened that day!”
How is God calling you to proclaim the hope of the gospel today? Whether it’s meeting with an unbelieving friend, apologizing, or discipling your preteen, will you follow him? Let’s thank our Heavenly Father now for the work he is doing in the lives of those who were baptized. It’s a bold and beautiful statement of faith in Jesus that they have made.
