On August 2nd, the warm evening gave way to a 5-2 victory for the Everett AquaSox over the Spokane Indians. A group of 150 people from Sound City, and their friends and neighbors, drove to Funko Field to cheer on the AquaSox.
Each year, Sound City gives away free tickets to a baseball game, with one ask– bring a friend! This relaxed venue is a low pressure, fun way to connect with our friends, neighbors, and coworkers, as well as letting them see what being a part of Sound City is like. Pastor Kyle shared, “It was great seeing so many people interacting, having fun, and having conversations at the AquaSox game. It provided a great opportunity, for me personally, to get to know my neighbors better”.
King Sighting
One memorable moment for baseball fans, was the chance to see Felix Hernandez pitch two scoreless innings, in a smaller venue. “King” Felix, as he’s known, is recovering from a latissimus dorsi strain and this was his first game pitching since June, according to The Herald. We pray he gets well soon.
Fans of Star Wars were treated to yet another royal appearance. Princess Leia, and her companions, including Han Solo and Chewbacca, posed for Star Wars Night photos.
But there was still another King in the house on August 2nd. He reigns over every galaxy and has completed a perfect work of victory on our behalf. Jesus was there with us as the people of Sound City shared his love, generosity, and showed the people around us what he is all about.
Let’s take a moment now to thank God for the gifts he has given us: for beautiful evenings, golden hours, time with friends, and most of all giving us himself. Our perfect sacrifice who takes away our sin, guilt, and shame in exchange for his righteousness and peace. Let’s continue to pray for the folks in our lives who don’t yet have a personal relationship with Jesus, and that the Holy Spirit would help us to continue to build relationships that point people to him.
