Smoke wasn't the only thing in the air this past Sunday. As we gathered together as a church for our Annual Beach BBQ and Baptism event, we also lifted up our praises and celebrated God's goodness through food, fellowship, and—of course—baptisms!
Six people stepped out in faith into the chilly waters of the Puget Sound, publicly proclaiming their belief in Jesus' death and resurrection, and aligning themselves with him through baptism. Some were young, others were older. Some have faith in Jesus that is brand new, others have walked with Jesus for a while and hadn't yet taken this step of obedience. What each person had in common was publicly declared their faith while their church family gathered and watched from the shore.
Folks also gathered for a potluck-style lunch and BBQ, enjoying the food and fellowship. Many people invited their friends and family, including non-believers, which made way for softened hearts and wonderful conversations. Not only did people hear about the gospel, but they got to see it lived out before them.
Over 180 people were in attendance—our biggest BBQ event yet!—which drew a lot of attention from people out and enjoying the park and waterfront. One Sound City member ever struck up an hour-long conversation with a woman who had come down to sit on the beach, and was able to invite her to join her for an upcoming Sunday service.
Please join us in prayers of thanksgiving for the many volunteers who made this event possible, from grill-masters to clean-up crews and everyone in between. We also thank God for his provision and overseeing of our church, for the connections made, and the people who were baptized.
