Today we celebrate the privilege it is to witness the biblical truth that God breathes new life into dead things, as we joyfully reflect on this past Saturday’s baptism event. Sound City Covenant Members, Nich and Dana VanBuecken, graciously hosted the event in their backyard where their son Breckon was baptized.
In Romans 6:3–4, the Apostle Paul explains the symbolism of baptism, God’s people identifying with Jesus: in his death, as we go down into/under the water, and in new life, as we come up from the water.
What an evidence of God’s grace to us, to enjoy together the obedience of young Breckon to God through the proclaiming of his faith in Jesus through baptism as we gathered together on Saturday. Join us this week in prayer and thanksgiving for God’s prompting of Breckon's heart to step forward in this act of faith and obedience, and for his parents' prayerful leadership and guidance through the process. Pray also for those who are prayerfully considering getting baptized at our next baptism event, which will be our annual barbecue and beach baptism gathering at Marina Beach Park in Edmonds, later in the Summer.
