This fall, Pastor Aaron led a new discipleship group called “How to Teach the Bible.” Eleven covenant members—some men, some women, some current leaders, and some being trained and developed for future leadership—took part in the group as they learned together how to faithfully and effectively communicate God’s Word.
Pastor Aaron shared a bit of the overall structure and content, saying: “The first few weeks were focused on training people how to read the Bible well and ask questions like, ‘what genre is this passage?’ or ‘what is the author's intent?’ or ‘what is the main idea of this passage?’ From there, the last few weeks were focused on turning these ideas into a coherent teaching. We talked about how to organize your thoughts, how to transition between sections, and how to give a speech that has solid content and passionate delivery.”
At the end of their time together, he said, “There were a few people already in leadership who did a terrific job. What was surprising was how well some of the up-and-coming leaders did. It was so encouraging for me to get to work with these men and women to help them become better students and teachers of God’s Word.”
Some of the participants also shared that the seven weeks were enjoyable and challenging, and they had experienced growth through the discipleship group.
God is so faithful to us, Sound City. He has provided leaders who love him and is raising up future leaders who will continue to answer the call to teach his Word. He is so gracious to call each of us to live lives that proclaim his truth and to share the good news of Jesus everywhere, whether over coffee on the sofa or across the globe. Let’s thank our Father now for his care for us and for all his Church.
