About the Series

2020 has been a year of waiting and longing. How long will this pandemic last? How long until things get back to normal? How long will racism continue to rear its ugly head? How long until this election is over? How long until God does something about the condition of our broken world?

Each year, Advent is a season that is intentionally set aside to reflect on the first coming of the Messiah, Jesus. For centuries, the people of God longed to see the coming of the Messiah and the restoration of the nation of Israel. The psalms and prophets sound the refrain, “how long, O Lord!”

As people who now live between the advents of the Messiah, we can look forward to Jesus’ return and cry out “how long” along with the prophets of old. But, we can also look back on Jesus’ life, death, and resurrection to give us hope while we endure with the hardships of this present life.
