Sound City Family Hike

  • Olney Pass NF-6120 Gold Bar, WA, 98251 United States (map)

Join us on Saturday, August 31 for a family hike to the Bear Creek Overlook at Spada Lake. Come enjoy a time of hiking and fellowship as we enjoy God’s creation together.

This hike will be led by our very own Chris Vaughn. For anyone looking to carpool, we will be meeting up at the Sound City church offices at 8:45 am, and departing at 9:00 am sharp. Otherwise, plan to meet at the trailhead at 10:45 am to get the hike started at 11:00 am.

For questions or to RSVP, contact Chris Vaughn.

Notes

  • No Swimming: Spada Lake serves Everett's water supply, as well as much of south Snohomish County, so no swimming is allowed. We will stay on the hiking trails around the lake. Since the land is stewarded by Snohomish County PUD, all visitors are required to fill out a free parking permit upon arrival indicating that they understand the rules.

  • Google Maps does not appear to have directions to this location. Please use the below driving directions, taken from the Washington Trails Association website.

Directions

From Everett, drive east on Highway 2 to the town of Sultan. At the traffic light just past milepost 23, turn left (north) onto Sultan Basin Road. Follow it for 13.25 miles (the pavement ends at 10.25 miles) to an information kiosk. Stop and sign in. Your sign-in acknowledges that you understand the rules and regulations for visiting Sultan Basin, which is a public water supply. Then, proceed 500 feet farther to a Y intersection, where you will take the right-hand branch, following the signs to the trailhead (South Shore Recreation Area/Bear Creek/Night Hawk) for the hike.
