Baby Dedication

While baby dedication is not one of the official ordinances of the church, we see examples of the practice in both the Old Testament and the New (1 Samuel 1:11, Luke 2:22). Even our Lord Jesus was dedicated as a child! At Sound City Bible Church we don't practice infant baptism, but we do celebrate new births by inviting parents to bring their little ones up on stage to introduce them to the church family.

Dedication is an opportunity for parents to publicly pledge to raise their children in a God-honoring way (Proverbs 22:6) and for the church family to pledge to support them in the work of raising children (Galatians 6:2).

Each family will introduce themselves and read a scripture that the Lord has given them to be a prayer of blessing, or vision for God's future work in the life of their child. We pray with them as they dedicate their children to the Lord and dedicate themselves to raising their children according to God's word.
