This month, 44 students and 15 leaders road tripped to Cascades Camp in Yelm, Washington for five days of fun, discipleship, and building relationships. They enjoyed God’s creation, swimming, boating, four wheeling, campfires, and dug into the idea of Life Well-Lived.
What does it mean to follow Jesus? How do we run the race of life, and how do we live well? Hannah Colvin, one of the camp leaders and Sound City’s Ministries Coordinator, said, “we had several students who said they hadn’t really understood the gospel before camp. They had believed, but now their faith became real and exciting to them.”
We are rejoicing over the work the Lord did in the hearts of many of the students at camp this year. We are especially praising Jesus that there was a student who made a personal decision to follow Christ. Pastor Kyle shared that like many of us, this student has “grown up in the church, but didn’t want his faith to be just something they did as a family, but a personal decision to own his faith and follow Jesus.”
Another highlight of camp included student volunteers helping lead music for the first time in the event’s history. It was an opportunity for the students to serve and to take on more responsibility, as well as a blessing to all those who worshiped together through singing.
Thank you to all of you who gave financially to provide camp scholarships and for continuing to lift up our students and leaders in prayer.
Sound City, let’s thank God today for Summer Camp. He has richly blessed us with an amazing group of students and abundant fruit in their lives. It is such a privilege to see them grow into the young men and women he has called them to be.
